In 2016, we introduced our new Tiddler Tales swim scheme at our centre, and we could not be prouder of how well all of our tiny swimmers have been able to develop their water skills since starting.
We have always had parent and baby swimming lessons, but have found that the smaller groups and more age relevant classes have really helped to achieve our goals and for all our babies/toddlers to reach their age specific milestones in their swimming lessons.
In our Tiddler Tales classes, we have a maximum of 6 parent and babies per group with our instructor teaching the class from in the swimming pool (as we follow the STA guidelines). Our age group categories are:

0 – 6 months
6 – 12 months
12 – 18 months
18 – 24 months
2 – 3 years

Our classes last for 30 minutes, in which we develop key skills such as fine and gross motor skills, spine development, balancing, floating and submerging. It’s also a great way to bond with your baby, and have a lot of fun at the same time. Learning is obtained through lots of action songs, fun games and play with our toys to ensure that a water baby is always a happy baby!
We do submersions with the babies but ensure that they are baby led – this means we watch for cues from your baby and will only submersion if we fill they and you are happy to do so.
If your baby doesn’t like to be submerged or struggles with a certain skill please don’t worry they all get there in their own time and develop at different rates, the most important thing is that they have fun in the classes!

We have our Tiddler Tale classes on 7 days a week, with the terms running alongside the school term time. And at the end of each full term, we practise the STA starfish badges with all our groups.
So if you are interested in joining our baby classes, please fill out our email enquiry form and we can let you know what classes we have available for your babies’ age.
