Knowing that residents of Rayleigh were crying out for their own pool, Tracy Ward decided to convert a disused farm building at Lubards Farm, Rayleigh, into an unique purpose built indoor swimming centre of excellence.
Swimming Tales opened its doors in March 2005, offering a unique facility, which is friendly, welcoming and very clean, with top class swimming teachers.
The 15m by 7m pool, which has a depth of 1.1m all over so there’s no deep end to worry about and is heated to just over 30 degrees so is always lovely and warm!!
It offers a very high standard of swimming lessons for children and adults of all abilities with fully qualified, friendly experienced swimming teachers including lessons for parents and babies, parents and toddlers, pre-school children, and adult beginners, as well as after school lessons for children aged five and over from beginner standard to advanced. It ensures that as well as learning a vital life-saving skill you have lots of fun also.
The centre is equipped with large changing rooms that are complete with showers and toilets, and also includes a well- stocked swimming shop for all your swimming needs.
Tracy said: “I have been surprised at how many adults feel more at ease not having a deep end to worry about and how many over 50s have noticed incredible differences in their health since they have been coming regularly, even to the extent of being able to lower or stop certain prescribed medication.”
“We have a great team of staff who are all friendly and passionate about swimming. We think we offer a much more personal, friendly service than the larger leisure centres.”
Swimming Tales also offers aquaerobics, adult only swim sessions, early morning swimming, synchronised swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving as well as being the ideal venue for children’s birthday parties with large inflatables, organised games and a specially painted party room for you to hold a birthday feast in afterwards.
During the school holidays it also holds intensive week long crash courses for adults and children, as well as fun swim sessions for children with toys and large rafts.
